PRAVIN THOMPSON

Plays: Guitar, Vocals, Drums

Born November 13th 1991, Pravin Thompson started playing guitar at age ten citing his brother’s example playing guitar. By the time he was in the 6th grade, he started studying with Will Genovese. In the 8th grade, Pravin’s involvement with music began to deepen when he formed a small band.

Pravin’s decision to start studying Jazz guitar came about guitar in his Sophmore year of High School. At that point he was also singing and playing drums as well. Pravin was influenced by a friend, who was attending Montclair University for Jazz Studies. Pravin took an introductory lesson with Professor Gene Bertoncini, from William Patterson and then resumed regular lessons with Will Genovese. Pravin is now studyuing with Dave Stryker and has been accepted at Jersey City University where he will pursue courses in Jazz Studies.

Pravin is a regular participant at the Sunday jam sessions at PJ's, Tuesday jam sessions at the Crossroads, and performs with a big band at a local retirement home every other Thursday. Along with several of his own groups. Pravin also teaches basic to intermediate level guitar.
