DAVID KOLCHMEYER
Plays: Alto Sax
David Kolchmeyer started playing saxophone
in the fourth grade. He has studied at the Jazz Institute of New Jersey and has participated in its Youth Ensemble lead by
Radam Schwartz. During the summer, he attends the JazzConnections workshop at Montclair State University. He is a student
at East Brunswick High School and is a member of its Wind Ensemble and Jazz Big Band led by John Kish.
He has been
taught by various teachers including Radam Schwarts, Mike Lee and Bruce Williams at his summer jazz camp. His main influence
is Charlie Parker but he also enjoys listening to Sonny Rollins and Miles Davis.
He started classical piano lessons
at the age of five and he played pieces written by composers such as Beethoven, Bach, Tchaikovsky, Brahms, and Gershwin. One
of his favorite pieces is Tocatta and Fugue in D minor by Bach. He currently studies with Mikurya Ryugin.
