Tom Roche is a versatile
drummer and can play comfortably in a of variety styles. He's noted for his ability to integrate seamlessly into musical
environments and for his drum instruction book for beginners, "Different Drum Strokes: An Integrated Approach To Drum
Set", which he co-authored with his teacher, Matt Lewis.
Besides his activities in the
jazz arena, Tom is also active in the Rock world, playing for Big Joe’s Basement Band, a well-regarded local blues and
classic Rock ensemble.
While Tom considers himself most comfortable in the role of a side
man, he has been just as valuable as a stylistic and promotional sounding board.
A formidable
educator, Tom lives by the adage,
"Who dares to teach must never cease to learn."
