John Harrity is the master guitar instructor here at SSM. He is a graduate of Middlesex High School, Class of 1973 and Rutgers, Class of 1980.

John has studied with Ronald Parker, Harry Leahy and Ted Dunbar for Jazz guitar. He has also studied with Francis Perry, Thaddeus Robinson and Laura Oltman for classical guitar and Wanda Maximilien for classical piano.

John has performed on many different venues, performing classical, jazz, rock, folk and religious music all throughout the Tri-State Area since 1973. John also has performed at Harrah's and Trump Plaza Casino's in Atlantic City, Pointy's in Manhattan, and the Meadowlands Hilton in East Rutherford. John also performs solo for the Downtown Somerville Association, fairs, private parties, restaurants, and religious services.

John has been teaching at the Somerville School of Music since 1978. He also had a teaching internship in South Bound Brook Public Schools. He also currently teaches at Immaculate Conception School in Somerville.

John is happily married with two children, a son and daughter.
